In today’s panel discussion, as well as during the promotion of the book by the esteemed professors – Prof. Petrit Pollozhani, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Merale Fetahi, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Arbëresh Ravrni – an important and timely topic was addressed: Albanian emigrations and their impact on demographic and socio-economic developments in the Republic of North Macedonia.
The discussions included a comprehensive historical overview of Albanians in North Macedonia, spanning from earlier historical periods to the present day. The authors also presented the research methods they applied in compiling their book, which covers a wide range of multidimensional themes – from the causes of emigration and its consequences for the local community, to its effects on the social and economic structure of the country.
At the conclusion of the panel, attention was given to identifying the potential for the return of Albanian emigrants to their homeland, as well as their role in investing in the country’s development. This segment sparked particular interest, emphasizing the need for sustainable and supportive policies to encourage the return of the diaspora and their engagement in the future growth of North Macedonia.
