Editorial Policy: Balkan Studies Foundation Publication – BSF IDEFE adopts specific basic publication policies to ensure the accurate, timely and ethical publication of scholarly works. These policies are based on the recommendations of organizations such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association and the Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.
BSF IDEFE aims to contribute to disseminating scientific knowledge by publishing high-quality scholarly works following international publishing standards. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-anonymized, impartial peer review process before publication. Unethical behaviour, such as plagiarism and forgery, is unacceptable; such content will be removed from publication. If plagiarism is detected, it is evaluated using Turnittin software, and manuscripts with high similarity rates are rejected. The double-anonymized review process evaluates the originality and scientific value of the manuscripts, and those deemed appropriate are published. Authorship criteria include responsibility for all aspects of the work and approval of the final manuscript. Contributions other than authorship are acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section.
No Transaction Fee
Our publications are presented under the principle of open access and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. BSF IDEFE Publications covers all expenses related to publication processes, and no processing or submission fees are charged for publications.
Advertising Policy
Within the advertising policy framework, advertising content is not included in the works published by BSF IDEFE.
Privacy Policy
Under the principle of confidentiality, the content of the submitted manuscripts is strictly confidential, and the editors and referees keep this information confidential.
Open Access
Under the open access policy, all publications are freely available, and readers can freely download, copy, and share them for non-commercial purposes. Publications are presented following the BOAI definition of open access and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license. These policies aim to maintain ethical standards and promote the free dissemination of scientific knowledge.

The authors own the copyright of their works published by BSF IDEFE and their works are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0).
Archive Policy
Journal of Balkan Studies sends the published articles to electronic archives on an open access basis without any action by the author(s) and makes them fully accessible. The author or the funding organization may upload a copy of the author’s accepted article to the archive sites. The Journal of Balkan Studies author licence permits reuse for non-commercial use only, citing the source of the article (with a full citation). Permission from the Authors is required for commercial use. Journal of Balkan Studies is committed to keep all its articles open access under the CC-BY-NC Creative Commons licence and to store the full-text content on archive platforms and the Journal of Balkan Studies website (LOCKSS).
