About Conference

The Conference for Higher Education in North Macedonia will convene scholars, researchers, and practitioners from across the region to discuss the evolving landscape of higher education. The conference aims to provide a platform for critical dialogue on the challenges and opportunities facing North Macedonian higher education institutions, focusing on key topics such as governance, digitalization, international cooperation, and academic freedom.

The event will bring together leading academics, policymakers, and professionals to share research, insights, and strategies that can guide the future of higher education in North Macedonia. Through collaborative discussions, presentations, and workshops, the conference seeks to foster innovative approaches that support sustainable growth and advancement in North Macedonia’s academic.

The Conference for Higher Education in North Macedonia invites scholars, researchers, and professionals to submit papers that explore contemporary challenges and future directions in higher education. We welcome contributions that address topics including, but not limited to, the governance and structure of universities, digitalization and the role of artificial intelligence, internationalization and research collaboration, and the transformation towards sustainability in academic practices. Abstracts should provide an overview of the research question, methodology, and anticipated findings, aligning with the conference themes. Accepted papers will be presented at the conference on May 22, 2025, in Skopje, North Macedonia, and selected papers will be published in a post-conference proceedings volume.

It will discuss the challenges facing academic freedom and how universities can balance autonomy with accountability. The focus will also be on sustainability, examining how higher education institutions can ensure academic independence while adapting to societal demands and fostering a culture of innovation and critical thinking.

Submission Guidelines 

We invite submissions of abstracts that address any of the above themes. Abstracts should be no more than 300 words and must be submitted by January 10, 2024. Please include a title, author name, affiliation, and contact information. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by January 20, 2025.

Costs

There is no registration fee for participating in the conference. We are pleased to offer funding accommodation expenses for a select number of papers, subject to review and approval.
