Panel on “Balkan Periodicals: The Trajectory of the Islamic Thought, 1918–1990” held in Tirana

The panel, organized as part of the project ‘Balkan Periodicals: Trajectory of Islamic Thought (1918–1990)’ conducted by the Balkan Studies Foundation and supported by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), was held on 17 October 2025 at the University of New York Tirana in Tirana.

The event began with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Ali Güneş, Rector of the University of New York Tirana, Dr. Sevba Abdula, Director of the Balkan Studies Foundation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Köroğlu, Project Coordinator of Balkan Periodicals, and Prof. Dr. Ramiz Zekaj.

The panel discussed the development and transformation of Islamic thought in Albania during the period 1918–1990 as reflected in periodicals.

Dr. Ferid Piku moderated the panel, with Dr. Besir Neziri, Dr. Fation Shabani and Dr. Rexhep Suma participating as panelists.
