Balkan Politics: Parties, Ideologies, and Society (1991-2024)

The period between 1991 and 2024 marks a transformative era for Balkan politics, shaped by the dissolution of Yugoslavia, the emergence of new nation-states, the region’s ongoing integration into the global political landscape as EU and NATO. This period has been characterized by significant political, social, and ideological shifts, as well as challenges in achieving democratic consolidation, regional stability, and socio-economic progress.

This research Project aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the political evolution in the Balkans over the past three decades. It explores the dynamics of political parties, the ideological underpinnings of governance, and the interplay between politics and society in shaping the region’s contemporary identity.
