Skopje Academy 6th Student Symposium Book of Abstracts and Program

Skopje Academy aims to help participants develop a perspective on the world, the Balkans, cities, societies, and people. It seeks to engage participants through listening, reading, and writing processes with an interdisciplinary approach, placing social sciences at its core. Skopje Academy has been an ongoing educational program since 2016, consisting of four modules. The first and second modules feature seminars, the third includes a reading group, and the fourth involves the article-writing process. Since its inception in 2016, a total of 58 students have graduated from the program.

The 6th Student Symposium of the Skopje Academy will take place between 19–21 September 2025 at the Balkan Studies Foundation in Skopje. A total of 10 sessions will be held, during which 42 graduates will present their papers. This year’s graduates come from Türkiye, North Macedonia, Albania and Kazakhstan.

The Skopje Academy is a forum where participants have the chance to discuss their views on the world, the Balkans, cities, societies, and people to develop a perspective on the social sciences. With an interdisciplinary approach that places social sciences at the center, it aims to engage participants through the processes of listening, reading, and writing.

The Skopje Academy is a one-year training program that includes seminars, reading groups, excursions, and an academic writing process. The first and second modules consist of seminars, the third module includes reading workshops, and the fourth module covers the academic writing process.

Those who have completed the seminars in the first and second modules will take a written exam to advance to the third module. In the third module, students will participate in designated reading groups. In the fourth module, they will complete the article writing process under the supervision of one of the professors at the Skopje Academy.

Students who successfully complete all four modules will attend a graduation ceremony to receive a certificate and have the opportunity to conduct research in the projects of our foundation in Skopje.

The 5th Student Symposium of the Skopje Academy will take place between 27–29 September 2024 at the Balkan Studies Foundation headquarters in Skopje. A total of four sessions will be held, during which 14 graduates will present their papers. The symposium will conclude with a seminar titled “Value-Oriented Leadership” by Dr. İbrahim Zeyd Gerçik. This year’s graduates come from North Macedonia and Turkey.

International Balkan Summer School – Program/Book of Abstracts

We are pleased to announce the Program and Book of Abstracts for the upcoming summer school. The summer school will be held from July 15-19, 2024, in Skopje, North Macedonia, bringing together participants from various countries.
