The Third Ramadan Program by the Balkan Studies Foundation “Ramadan Talks”

Dear Scholars, Intellectuals, and Participants,

We are pleased to announce the upcoming third Ramadan program organized by the Balkan Studies Foundation, titled “Ramadan Talks”. This unique program will feature a blend of online and face-to-face sessions, welcoming esteemed intellectuals from the Balkans and Turkey to engage in enlightening discussions.

Topic:

This year, our focus will delve into the theme of “Islamic Culture and Its Varieties in the Balkans”. The aim is to spark a robust debate surrounding the diverse and rich personal religious and cultural experiences of Islam within the Balkan region. Although the foundations of Islam as a religion are unique and unchanging, the practice of Islamic norms and religious life is colorful and flexible depending on the culture and region in which it is spread.

Objective:

Through the voices of our esteemed guests, hailing from various Balkan countries, we seek to illuminate the diverse forms and varieties of Islamic religious and cultural practices prevalent in the Balkans. Our goal is to unveil the multicultural and multidimensional mosaic that characterizes Islam in this region.

Program Details:

Dates: 12 March – 06 April, preceding iftar during Ramadan

Application Period: March 01-09, 2024

Lecture Schedule:

Every Tuesday and Saturday during Ramadan
